

Edward S. Hall was born to Earl and Edith Hall on August 10,1914 in Dinuba, California. Eventually the family moved to Highland Park in Los Angeles, where Ed grew up attending Los Angeles public schools and Lincoln High School. As a boy he was interested in Boy Scouts and made Eagle Scout at the age of 15. After graduation from high school, he got a job as a meter reader for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. To further his education, he took night courses at USC toward a degree in Engineering. In 1939, he married Leota Belin, daughter of Herman and Ivy Belin of Joplin, Missouri. Ed and Leota had two children, Sharron and Sandra. In 1944, Ed decided to take a job operating power plants and moved his family to Big Pine, California where they resided for 16 years. While in Big Pine, in his spare time, he used his engineering skills to design and build the Big Pine Motel and was actively involved in various community activities. After 16 years in Big Pine, Ed took a job at "The Gorge" north of Bishop, California where he worked for two years. At this time he decided to take advantage of promotions and moved back to Los Angeles as Superintendent of electrical plants. He eventually was promoted to Superintendent of Hydraulic Electrical Plants with his main office at the Castaic Power Plant. At this time, Leota and he moved to Newhall where they resided for a number of years. Ed was a member of the Lions Club in Big Pine and Newhall, Masons/Shriners in Bishop, Newhall, and Los Angeles, and was a church Elder at Newhall Presbyterian Church. Leota and he enjoyed traveling, entertaining and being with their family and friends. As their health began to present problems, they decided to move to Sunrise Senior Living in Seal Beach, California, to be near their daughter Sharron. Ed passed away on August 17,2012. He is survived by his wife Leota; daughters Sharron Hall Henry and Sandra Hall Ramet; nephew William Mills; grandchildren Christina Olson, Dawn Henry Conceicao, Valeska Ramet; and two great grandchildren Jonele Conceicao and Chloe Conceicao.
