Evelyn Reininga

Evelyn Reva Reininga, age 87 and a longtime resident of Santa Clarita, CA passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015. She was born in Charles City, Iowa on February 1, 1928 to Guy and Eulalia (Burnell) Fay. She married Herman Reininga on September 11, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa. In the early 50’s Evelyn and Herman moved to California. In the mid-80’s they moved to Acton, CA where they built their “almost-a-ranch” home. They were married 52 years until his passing in 1999. Evelyn then relocated back to Santa Clarita where she lived with her son, Paul, and daughter-in-law,Cindy, and their 3 children.

Evelyn worked as a collector for Lockheed Federal Credit Union. She and Herman enjoyed volunteering their time as officials with The Athletic Congress (TAC) Track & Field officiating at college track meets, the 1984 Olympics, and traveling to several different locations to attend annual conferences. She also enjoyed being a member of the XYZ Club at Grace Baptist Church and visiting those too ill to attend church.

Her friends and family will truly miss her. She is survived by her children: Pat and her husband Bill of Saugus, CA, Paul and his wife Cindy of Santa Clarita, CA , John of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA and Herman and his wife Diane of Des Moines, Iowa. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Jeff, Alison, Greg, Christine, Dawn, Nancy, Bill, Brad, Kristin, Kayte, Matt, Ryan, Kyle and Nicole and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman, a retired inspector with Lockheed and her daughter Alice (Ali) Schlicher.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7th at Chapel of the Oaks at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, 23287 N. Sierra Highway, Newhall, CA 91321. A viewing will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, also at Chapel of the Oaks at Eternal Valley Memorial Park.
