Jean Harmon will be remembered as a caring, loving, giving person. To those who knew her well, she was a little cantankerous, yet always ready to hear and care about someone's problems or concerns. In 1968, with a 2 year old son, Jena at age 27, took on the responsibilities of her niece, Terri, age 10, and her nephew, Mark, age 8, when their mother passed away suddenly. Within a couple of months, she would become their legal guardian and mother. Now, a single, working mother of 3 children, Jean, then 27 years old, was left to raise 3 children within her standards, which were always very high in respect, love and cleanliness. Later on in her own mother's life, who was suffering from cancer, Jean took her in and cared for her until cancer took her. Jean's only son was killed in 1989, which took an extreme toll on her life, as it would any loving mother. This event would eventually lead to her own demise as the depression of losing her only son would. Although a very strong willed person, Jean eventually lost her battle with her demons on September 23, 2013 in her home, in her bed, which is exactly where she wanted to be. Jean will be missed, but will be loved by many and always remembered by those who knew and loved her.
