Jesse Peter Cepeda Perez, of Guam, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Jesse was born on April 26, 1958, in Guam, the son of Jesus (Santos) and Esperanza (Cepeda) Perez. (Familian Belango|Cocora)
Jesse was a loving son, brother, and uncle who cherished his family and friends and trusted in the Lord. He enjoyed spending time with family, having long conversations with his siblings, and was a sports buff that could rattle off player stats easily. In his final days, he enjoyed time with family watching his favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers, play in the NBA Playoffs. He shared fond memories about his life and about his beloved homeland, Guam, and his favorite place on the island – Tarague Beach.
Jesse is survived by his siblings Marie (Charles) Sourgose (children Shawn, Sheree, Shane), Julie (John) Leon Guerrero-Benevente (children Benjamin ll, Peter, Jesse, Sheena, Lolana), Helenita Perez-Dizon (children Ricardo, Steven, Keith), Francis Perez (children Alan, Brian), Christine (Rudy) Duenas (children Rudina, Calvin, Rheanna, Rochelle) and nieces and nephews Dora, Sophia, Sonya, Ramona and Jay San Nicolas, brother-in-law Francis Rivera (children Jessica, Francis II, Justin), brother-in-law Joe Meno, and grand neices and nephews.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Esperanza Perez, his sister Delia and brother-in-law Joe San Nicolas, sister Priscilla (Perci) Rivera, and sister Rita Meno, brother Joseph Perez, brother-in-law Benjamin Leon Guerrero, brother-in-law Ben Babauta, and grand-niece Ha’ani Charlie Rae Sourgose.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary in Newhall, CA. Military honors at 10:00 a.m. and Rosary at 10:30 a.m. A stateside Mass will be held at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
A Funeral Mass and inurnment at Guam Memorial Park will be held at a future date to be determined.
Memorials may be made to the family to help assist with funeral expenses.
