Jose’s Celebration of Life Memorial services will be held at 10AM PST on Thursday August 3rd, 2023 at Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary with Pastor Jacoby Jordan of Trinity Church, officiating. Committal Service will follow at Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary. Arrangements are by Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary.
Jose Luis Sanchez Magdaleno was born in Mexicali, Mexico to Concepcion & Francisco Magdaleno on April 5th, 1950. He went to school at San Fernando Jr. High, San Fernando High School, Los Angeles Valley Community College, and California State University, Northridge. He married the love of his life Margarita Magdaleno on December 22, 1990 in Van Nuys, California. He graduated with a Masters degree in Chicano Studies from California State University, Northridge. He worked as a Chicano Studies Professor, then as an ESL teacher at Hermandad Mexicana Nacional in North Hollywood, CA, and he would then work various roles as an Eligibility Worker, Job Developer and Social Worker at IHSS under DPSS for 23 years. He was involved in Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (M.E.Ch.A) at CSUN, and helped the Pacoima community with their taxes through VITA at Mary Immaculate Church. He was also part of the Sound Ministry at his Christian Pentecostal Church at Covenant Faith Center in Chatsworth, CA.
Jose Luis Sanchez Magdaleno is preceded in death by his grandparents Carmen & Jose Magdaleno, and parents Concepcion & Francisco Magdaleno.
Jose Luis Sanchez Magdaleno is survived by his wife Margarita and his son Joshua J. Magdaleno, and his brothers and sisters Frank Magdaleno, Lupe Rocha, Ricardo Magdaleno, Carmen Magdaleno, Alfredo Magdaleno, & Tere Magdaleno. As well as his beloved Uncles, Aunties, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces.
The family of Jose wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all medical staff, nurses, dialysis technicians, board and care staff, and doctors that put in much effort, and care for Jose Luis Sanchez Magdaleno. His family would like to add their appreciation and love for those who kept Jose in their thoughts and prayers.
