OBITUARY:
Linda Sue Carlton-Anderson was born on March 28, 1938 in Taylorsville, North Carolina to Luther and Ruby Carlton. She was the fifth child of 11 children, and accepted Jesus Christ into her life during her early childhood years. She spent her adolescent years in Berwin, West Virginia, and as a teenager, completed her education in Columbus, Ohio. She moved to California as a young adult and later married MacArthur Anderson. She continued her education in business and, after years of employment, retired in 1986. She was an active member of the Church of God In Jesus Christ where she developed an intimate, profound relationship with Christ. Linda was a compassionate, loving mother to her two daughters Lisa and Lori, her only son Lyle (Spouse Toni), her grandson Brandon, and her three great-grandchildren Brandon Jr., Ayiana, and K’den. Her gentle soul, affection, and kindness was extended to all whom she came in contact.
Linda’s parents Luther and Ruby, along with her two brothers James and Beryl, and her two sisters Phyllis and Billie Jo, precede her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing her children and grandchildren, her siblings Hayden, Hazel, Bessie, John, Carol, and Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
EULOGY (written by Lyle Wright):
I heard this quote, “adversity is the crucible of greatness.”
My mother was many things to many people: a mentor, an aunt, a sister, a friend, a wife, and a mother to her children, as well as a God-fearing servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. Her way of being was nourishing, kind, friendly, confident, and comforting.
As I reflect over her life, I can clearly see that her life’s mission was to be of service to others but mainly to God, her children, and family. I can hear her voice telling me, “It’s not about me. It’s about how Great God’s love is.” Mom, I’m getting there! She is right, it is about God. The Lord used my mother to be great in her service to others while doing His will. However, there were difficult times pressed upon her; yet she did not let those moments defeat her due to the fact that the word said, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
I am not going to go into depth as to what many have experienced regarding their time with my mother but I do want to give you this content, “And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:44-45)
This is my Mother. This is her testament to me.
