I am crestfallen. Two days ago, while having a drink with a mutual friend of Lisa's, he (Bob) had told me of her passing and it hurt deeply.  For a short period of time in college, Lisa was a very close and dear friend of mine.  Kindness and caring were not ideals lost on Lisa; they were part of her being.  For Christmas of '84, she left a surprise gift on my apartment doorknob: Do They Know It's Christmas? by Band Aid, for the famine relief effort in Ethiopia.  I immediately knew it was her and called her up.  That was Lisa, thinking of others; living a life of humanity and love. Well, she moved to California, started a career and a family, and I did the same back East.  The last time we spoke was after we both had daughters, and I knew very well she was happy. We all want happiness for those we love and her family gave her that.  My sincerest condolences to Shawn and Sophia.  Although we have never met, both of you are in my prayers. I will forever cherish the moments I shared with Lisa  the music, movies, and talks. Her friendship helped me tremendously and she will remain in my heart forever.

Lisa we had many good times in college back in The Bronx. My heart goes out to your family. Your strength and courage in your parting words,  "Everything is going to be okay," gives me hope for the world, and reminds me why I was so lucky to have known you. Much peace and love. Lisa's funeral service was beautiful, fitting for a woman so admired and respected for her strength, courage, and happy heart.  She will be missed.  Please know we are here to help if you need anything-- we're just two doors down!

Dear Shawn & Sophia, There are no words to provide comfort for the pain you both must be enduring at this time. Lisa was a good friend; an amazing inspiration to me and all those who knew her. Her sweetness was matched by her strength and she was taken far too soon.  I pray that each passing day will find a way to ease your grief.

I so much enjoyed getting to know Lisa when Sophia was in my class.  She was a very loving, friendly and kind person.  You're in my thoughts and prayers.

My dear friend, my sister, I love you.  Life is different now, without you.  You were the toughest person I have ever met and the most sensitive person I have ever met.  I'm glad that you have peace but I want you back.  I just selfishly want you back.  I love you and I miss you.  Matt and I will look after Shawn and Sophia just like I promised.  See you soon. My condelences to Shawn and Sophia on your heartbreaking loss. Lisa was a friend from high school (Cardinal Spellman Class of '89 in Bronx, NY).  Facebook reconnected us after more than 30 years.  Exchanging messages with her, I could tell that she was the same gregarious, fun loving Bronx girl I remembered.  I am saddened that Lisa has left us at such a young age but I am grateful to have known her and to have nothing but fond memories of her
