Un año ha pasado sin Ud. Un año sin su voz de calma, su sentido de humor y sus palabras de sabiduría. Un año sin el calor de amor con cual abrazaba a sus seres queridos. 

A su familia les deseo que las memorias les traigan mas sonrisas que lágrimas. Que en sus recuerdos lleven viva la memoria de su vida extraordinaria. Que en sus abrazos se sienta el amor que les imparto.

Reality often hits me in waves and today the tsunami that had been brewing has crashed. Today I would have called her, her soothing voice would have excitedly greeted me as if we had known each other for a lifetime and this was our life long ritual. For many years we were content with a weekly hug and some words exchanged. When everything changed in 2020 so did what she meant to me. The tenderness in her words would have immediately melted through the wall keeping everything in. She would bring me to the present as we spoke of our respective tales of Covid and hopes for a new future. She would remind me that new isn’t always bad, and that if we didn’t come out of this living a new way of life then we didn’t learn anything.  I would learn of her Pueblo where she grew up and her family she so deeply loved. She would express the love and gratitude she had for her two sons and their families, her daughter and hers and her grandkids. How each of them played a role in caring for her spirit, soul and body. Whomever she spoke of, she spoke of highly and proudly. I knew a different name for her than they did. To them she was mom, grandma, Chuy. I finally admitted that for a long time I called her “la mamá de Fabi” and I still had a hard time calling her by her first name. To me she was more than a friend’s mom. She was comfort, she was peace. She was joy. Oh the joy of her laugh and her quick wit. The kind that would pull you out of whatever hole you were in. She was the maternal guide I didn’t know I needed. She was my friend. So today I miss her, and I am deeply sorrowful for this immeasurable loss to not just her family but to everyone that knew her. By her actions and her words she was easily one of the best embodiments of love I will ever know. I miss you and will always love my dearest Maria. 

Maria was known as a mom to all.  She was tender hearted, she loved everyone and everyone loved her.  Everytime I would see her walking up to church I couldn’t wait till she came to me so I can get the most genuine hug from her.  She always saw the best in you.  What I admired her the most is the love she had for her kids and grandkids.  She would stop anything to be there for them and always encouraged them.  She always led by example and she inspired me to always see the good.  She will forever be missed ! Until we meet in Heaven my sweet Mama Maria!  I love you 

Beloved Maria, 

One of the greatest joys I had every Sunday was hearing a random “My friend!” behind me only to turn around find out it was you, always smiling and ready for a hug. You carried yourself with grace, strength, humility and love with just the perfect amount of wit and sass to make me laugh. You are beautiful inside and out, and I’m going to miss you so much. I love you, my friend, and thank you for being such a shining light and example in my life. 

My Beautiful kind hearted loving caring Maria, I was so sad to hear you passed away. I am thankful we shared a season together you were an amazing woman so sweet ,the only regret I have is that we did not have a chance to have  our lunch date together. So save me a seat in Heaven, I know you are dancing and praising our Father with the Angels. I love you forever my sweet friend. Rita

A Beautiful Soul Is Never Forgotten! 

I was blessed to know Maria because of my beautiful friend Fabi. 

The first day I met her, I loved her. Her caring and loving heart showed in how she carried herself and spoke to me. Her beautiful smile radiated with love and kindness. She was a true living angel, always made one feel welcomed and loved.

I know that where ever she has been; she has left an imprint of herself on those who knew her and loved. 

Fabi, I know how special your momma was to you and how close you two were. The Mother & Daughter relationship the two of you shared was beautiful and one of a kind. May you always find joy and comfort in that and your memories you have. 

My heart goes out to your entire family, praying the Lord brings comfort to all.

I will always be grateful to you for sharing your momma with me.

I have so many memories of this beautiful soul. She loved her kids unconditionally and whole heartedly.  I never saw such a beautiful Mother and Daughter relationship as theirs.  Maria will be missed but never forgotten.  My prayers and thoughts are with you guys.

For My Beautiful Mamita, and My Best-Friend,

I thought we would have more years together and more time to do all the things we had planned; like Jordan's garden, shopping for a new wardrobe, updating your bedroom and more trips to the beach to collect heart shaped stones washed up on the shore. Our plans of you living with us were underway and in what seems like a blink of an eye, you were gone. In that exact moment every single thing about my life changed. Forever. And with you went so much of me. Nothing looks right, and nothing feels right. It seems cruel and unfair that you were taken far too soon and my heart literally shatters at the thought of never hearing your voice again. I miss everything about you. Everything. And I wish we go back in time, I would have hugged you tighter and longer the last time I saw you. 

Thank you for giving me a lifetime of unconditional love, for your sacrifice, your wisdom and unfailing commitment to doing the right thing, the grace in which you walked in, for being the most incredible role model who taught me to be myself, and for putting God and family first. 

You always made sure I knew how much you cared and how important I was to you. You would say that I was "una de tus mas grandes bendiciones", but the truly blessed one is me because even though heaven and earth separate us today, I get to say to the world you're my mom and I'm your daughter. 

I promise to be Brave just like you taught me and find a reason to live everyday.
