Marilynn Jane Macdonald

Marilynn (Lynn) Jane Macdonald (nee Gifford) passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2011, at the age of 87. Lynn was born on January 10, 1924, in Jamaica, Queens, New York. She married Bruce D Macdonald in 1945 and they built a home in Setauket, Long Island, New York, where they raised three children together.

After her husband's passing, Lynn moved to Flat Rock, North Carolina, where for many years she enjoyed her children and grandchildren's visits, her friends, traveling, tennis, golf, dancing, playing bridge, and fine dining. She shared many happy memories during this time with her companion William Freitag. In 2009, she retired to Newhall, California, to be near her daughter.

She is survived by her son Bruce D Macdonald of Wake Forest, North Carolina, her son Craig Gifford Macdonald of Fairborn, Ohio, and Bonnie Lynn Shepard, of Valencia, California. Lynn is also survived byher daughters-in-law Linda and Ruth, son-in-law Douglas Shepard, grandchildren Alicia Macdonald-Khamis, Mindy Macdonald, Kyle Mellevold, and Bruce Shepard, grandson-in-law Hafidh, granddaughter-in-law Qiulan, and great-grandson Malik.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite charity for Cancer or Alzheimer's research.
