My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the House family.  I enjoyed seeing Mary at Bible study, Red Hat Society and Christen Woman. My favorite time with Mary was at bible study she was funny, soft spoken and thoughtful, so if you wanted to laugh you had to sit close. I didn't see Mary for a long time but in my heart Mary was my Girlfriend in God.

I first met Mary House in 1967 and will always remember her as a beautiful fun-loving lady. We were in Oak of the Golden Dreams Questers when it first was organized in Newhall. What fun we had on our trips together for State and National Conventions!!  Mary always looked so pretty in Ruby Jenkins Kellogg's Red-beaded dress she wore in our many fashion shows. Oh yes, I remember her purple glass and how wonderful it was.  She taught us how the sun turned it a lovely shade of purple.

One of the many things I remember about my Aunt Mary is how she rewarded me for being honest in a way that really made an impact on me. It must have, because this was nearly 50 years ago. I was playing with my cousin Susie, who was living with Aunt Mary at the time. Susie had on a pretty ring that I really liked. Whlle we were playing, she lost the ring somehow. We started looking for it. I found it, but I wanted it so badly that at first that I didn't tell her. As we continued to look for it, I could see how much the ring meant to Susie. I finally finished struggle between my wants and my conscience, told her that I found it, and gave it back. She must have told Aunt Mary about this, because soon after, at Christmastime, Aunt Mary gave me a little box. I opened it, and inside was a pretty little ring for me. It was  thoughtful way to acknowledge me for doing the right thing, I never forgot how how good it made me feel. Just seeing Aunt Mary's name listed here at this site brings up the depth of the loss that she is not with us anymore.
