Michael David Tovey passed away Nov 24, 2022 surrounded by his family after enjoying Thanksgiving and watching the sunset on the Pacific together. Born in Los Angeles on August 2, 1952 to Richard Ross and Betty Gwendolyn Tovey, Mike had three loves of his life, our Eternal Father, his loving family, and the Southern Pacific railroad. He squired his amazing wife Karen Louise Glandon of 46 years by leading her on numerous adventures chasing trains, perfecting urban exploration and trespassing long before its heyday. Mike learned most of what he knew the old fashioned way, by apprenticing and failure. 19 years ago he landed his last job at Metropolitan Water District, where his meticulousness, civil engineering talents, and knowledge of California’s water system would’ve made Mulholland blush, earning a promotion just prior to God’s recall. His career delivering water to millions of fellow Californians was an extension of a life dedicated to love, service, and charity to his brothers and sisters in Christ. Preceded in death by his parents, he’s survived by his beloved Karen, daughters Trisha Tovey and Sandra (Kenneth) Olson, grandson Michael Olson, brothers Steven (Donna) Tovey, John (Becky) Tovey, sisters Teresa (Mike) Campbell, and Carol Tovey, several nieces and nephews, as well as scores of friends, coworkers, and Metrolink companions.
Michael will be interred at Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary. A small family gathering will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
