To Neil's Family - I recently learned of Neil's passing.  In the 1950's Neil was a member of my step-dad's band before they started playing for Sheriff Tex's show in Seattle.  My step-dad went by the name of Rusty Clark.  We lived in Bothell, WA where I attended high school.  I have fond memories of the show, including Neil's wonderful music talent.   And later, the Lawrence Welk Family shows.

For me, the mark of a great musician is that they mesmerize you while making their performance look effortless.  Nobody made playing the guitar look easier than Mr. Levang.  What a great talent- thanks for inspiring me!!

I was 7 years old when my mother sat me in front of the television set and ordered me to pick an instrument from the Lawrence Welk show because it was my grandmother's dying wish that I have music lessons...right now!
I had no idea what a music lesson was and I didn't know a clarinet from a violin from a hole in the ground.  I had absolutely no idea what to choose, but then Neil came out with his guitar and played "Ghost Riders"...
and I knew I was saved!
And so began my lifelong love of the guitar...

Sincere sympathy to the Levang Family on the loss of a great musician and a man with a most admirable life story.  I still watch and enjoy Lawrence Welk reruns.  RIP Neil Levang.

My deepest condolences to Neil's Wife Nancy and Son Mark. I will be forever grateful for the brief conversation with him several years ago on the telephone. His playing was instrumental in fueling my interest in the Guitar. He was a great musician. He will be missed. May he Rest In Peace.

What a remarkable talent!  Neil's music will live on for  all of us to enjoy.  I wish I'd had the chance to meet him.

Neil was one of my favorite Welk musicians and my favorite banjo player. I was glued to his solos.

As a WelkNote member I wished I had met you Mr. Levang. You were such a treasure of musical talent and watched you for many years on the Lawrence Welk TV Show.  I know you are in heaven with Lawrence Welk and the other members who have passed away making music. May you Rest in peace Mr. Levang you have touched so many lives with your musical talents.
