Raymond C. Jones, Jr. was born on March 5, 1948, to loving parents, Raymond Carl Sr. and Juanita Lorraine Jones at Queen of Angels Hospital, in Los Angeles, California. He was the eldest of three children born to the union.
After graduating from Hyde Park Academy High School in 1965, Raymond enlisted in the United States Navy where he served two years and received his honorable discharge on February 17, 1967. Raymond’s last duty assignment was aboard the USS Tidewater. He held his service in high esteem as he wore the USS Tidewater apparel proudly.
Raymond received an Associate of Arts degree in Auto Mechanic at Pasadena City College. This knowledge enabled Raymond to tinkle under the hood of any automobile, from cars to motor homes.
Raymond began his employment with the City of Los Angeles, Police Department in 1974, as a Auto Mechanic. In 1978, Raymond promoted to Traffic Officer and to Traffic Officer Supervisor in 1986. He retired after 30 1/2 years on March 3, 2004, assigned to the Police Department, Attorney General Office as a Hearing Officer II.
Raymond met and fell in love with his wife Renee and was married on April 9, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two of them shared unconditional love in a peaceful loving home for the past 27 wonderful years. Their relationship exemplified love, honor and respect.
Raymond loved cruising, fishing, and most of all, camping. Raymond would camp at the beach, in the woods, in the city; it didn’t matter, as long as he was enjoying his motor home with the Jr. Jones, Munoz, Moncree & Hightower families. He traveled all over, visiting places such as Mt. Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Canada and many other sites and places.
Raymond’s greatest pastime passion was his computers. Anyone who knew Raymond knew he was truly a “Computer Geek.” He spent hours tearing down and rebuilding computers and anything associated with a computer. He would spend hours every Sunday, on the phone, gaming with his son Darryl. During the week, Raymond enjoyed listening to podcasts and online computer geeks, for new ideas on updating his computer with the newest technology.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Renee: three sons, Darryl Austin, Edward Williams-Jones, Raymond Jones III; one step-son, Steven Banks (Safiyah); one sister Donna Munoz (Chris); five grandchildren David, Steven, Devonte, Amiyah, Aaliyah; five great-grandchildren Analis, Andrew, Alisha, Kylian, Emmarie; in-laws, nephews, nieces and a host of family and friends.
Raymond we love and miss you and yes you are “OK FINE!”
