A family graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 30th at Eternal Valley Cemetery with Pastor Bill Shannon of Grace Community Church officiating. Arrangements are by Eternal Valley Mortuary.
Ronnie was born in Boulder, Colorado to Ernie and Ann Shaffer on July 19, 1943. He went to school at Pomona, California. He married Shirley Berrow on December 16, 1967 in Pomona. He held two Bachelor’s Degrees from California Polytechnic University in Pomona and a Master’s Degree from California State University in Northridge. He had a 54-year career in the aerospace industry, serving as a Director of Materiel for Boeing, Lockheed, McDonnell-Douglas, and General Dynamics.
Active in sports, Ron was a competitive swimmer and diver, a lifeguard, a scuba diver, a gymnast, and an archery and firearm enthusiast. In addition, he was an avid wood turner, amateur radio operator and a private pilot.
He was a member of Grace Community Church and went on a tour of the Holy Land with the church. He attended men’s bible study at the church.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his mother, Ann Shaffer, and his son, Jeffrey Wilson.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Shirley Shaffer; his children, Laurie of Boulder City, NV, and Brian Shaffer, a daughter-in-law, Pauline, and his grandchildren, Hannah and Caleb Shaffer all of Valencia, CA; his sister, Teree Bergman, and his father, Ernie Shaffer, both of Tucson, AZ.
