Opa, 

Thank you for being you. For trying to teach me to ride a horse (I failed miserably and you had to slap a steak on my face), for teaching me to drive a tractor, for letting me prove you wrong when you didn't believe that I could catch that lizard, and for sharing your love of thai food. Thank you for letting me dive into our family history and our culture, and for sharing stories and naked butt pictures from your days in the military. Thank you for being my Opa and for loving me in your own way. I will forever miss spending the day with you on your hill and watching the hummingbirds. I will miss you.

On some weekends, we would have a epic chess game, but he always won.  My dad was always so smart about chess, or computers or growing Eucalyptus trees or pine trees.  I will miss him very much!

The first time was his regular term,  but the second 2 years of service in the Dutch Army was to cover for his brother, so his brother could stay home with his new baby.  He loved his family.

My Father was a complex man.  He was always full of ideas.  He was always building or tinkering with things.  He always enjoyed having family and friends around.  He lived alone on the “20 acres” as we always called the house, for over 40 years.  He lived life on his terms.   The Newburys will miss you Pop.  Keep “Chugging along” u til we meet again.
