My dear friend Van. I'm so grateful that God placed me at New Hope M.B.C. so I could meet you and Bettye. To hear you sing Jordan River, to hear you pray those beautiful prayers that only you could do. To hear you answer questions on the prayerline and in bible study, as only you could do it that way. Where it was so clear even a child could understand it when you finished. Go on my friend, take your rest you have earned it. 🙏❤🙏

Uncle Van was 16 yr when I was born, a baby to protect and watch over.  I enjoyed going to Holly Park watching him Umpire the baseball games while Uncle Larry stole the bases.  Uncle Van has always been Gentle and Kind.   He is the type of man that used his life as an example of how to Love, Honor and Protect his wife.  He is an Honorable man with great Character, Wisdom and highly Respected.  I am grateful for the Love and Compassion he gave to me throughout my entire life.  I choose Uncle Van & Aunt Bettye as the Godparents of my son because God is the center of their marriage and my son who shares his name would always have a great example of what a Good Man looks like. (Van=Gracious)  I will miss you dearly Uncle, your first born niece.

I just want to take a minute and express my heartfelt condolences to the family. It was a pleasure as well as a blessing to meet Van, such a beautiful person, a true man of God, a friend I had in Jesus. we must remember that Van has graduated and God has a plan for him. I'll always remember three things about Van, his personality, knowledge of the word and that big beautiful smile. Van always had his lights shinning,

I will always remember your kind loving spirit. You were a great example of what a man should be. A faithful servant of our Father in heaven , An awesome husband , best friend and soulmate to your wife Bettye . A great uncle, nephew, brother, brother in law, cousin and friend to those that that knew and loved you. Your smile lit up a room like your loving mom Lessie Mae . You have now received your crown of glory and have transitioned from your temporary home to eternal life. What a blessing to know you are with God and your descendants that that have passed on before you . I will miss you Brother Van but I know God loved you best . Rest in Paradise ❤️🙏🏽

Deacon Van, a man with such a gentle soul and a calming demeanor.  Your smile would light up a room.  You're such a great teacher of the Word. You're one of the reason's I enjoyed Sunday school and Bible studies so much. Your presence at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church will truly be missed.

Gentle Giant....I will miss your smile and hearing your voice on the morning prayer line. Thank you for your friendship. You are missed but not forgotten.

Cousin, I can't believe that I am writing this in memory of you.  You were such a gentle giant.  You exemplified every characteristic of a true gentleman.  You were so kind and thoughtful.   Our Heavenly Father placed you on this earth to show us how we should go about our Christian walk.  Van, I know you are away from us in body but you are present with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I will love you forever.  Bettye my condolences to you, knowing that you had a God fearing husband who loved you.

Van was one of the sweetest, kindhearted man of God I met at our church New Hope MBC in Littlerock, CA. His spirit touched my heart and I loved his teaching of the Word of God, that spoke to whose he was. God's child. He will truly be missed, until we meet again in the heavenly land God promised .

Van touched our whole family with his kindness and generosity. He enabled us to have such a beautiful wedding ceremony and create such cherished memories. Van will be truly missed by our family.
