"Joe Fox"...In the mid '60's, my family lived next door on Henry Clay Road in Newport News, Va. You had a green Chevrolet and took the kids to Lake Ahoy and you loved Neil Diamond on the radio. I recall being in the back seat and you would turn up the radio when "Cracklin Rosie" came on. You were fun and vibrant and full of wonderful life. I was age 10 then and now at age 62, you still bring back fun memories. 
To Debbie, Keith and Carey, I am sorry for the loss of your wonderful father.

 I can vividly remember your dad all the way back to 1972 when I first started my career with Peebles Supply in Hampton and then at the Richneck Road location. He would come into that location and call in a Brunk Mechanical order of no hub soil pipe and fittings to Charlotte Pipe. The fittings he would order by the crate, and he also sold them all of their Jackson water heaters. 
  He was always very kind and helpful to me as a young buck who knew nothing. He was also a very sharp dresser!

As I think and remember my Uncle Joe, I recall so many great memories. Joe was my Dad's ("Torchy") close friend and I spent so many fun times with them-sledding near the Lion's Bridge when we had snow, going with them to Ft. Eustis when they played golf, playing with them as I got older, then not getting invited when I got better scores then they did (LOL). Spending time in Bavon Beach, Mathews County, when we had the beach cottage, digging clams from the shallow waters, sailing in their boat that they bought together, and just watching them enjoy a friendship together as brothers-in-law.  Joe was a champion in his field of plumbing, thinking of his times of being a salesman to the Shipyard, then Ferguson Corporation, then Village, then whoever used his skills in that business.  I am grieved at the loss to his children, Debbie, Keith and Carey, knowing what the loss of a father means. Enjoy the good memories and be a blessing to your Mom during these years to come.

I will never forget the 12 yrs I worked with Joe at Village Suppliers.  He was always a positive mentor to me starting out in the plumbing industry. He will be missed. Prayers to his Family.

We are sorry for your loss and remember "Joe" with fondness! My husband and I knew Joe through the plumbing industry and look back with a smile on his outgoing personality, kindness and his laugh. Mr. Joe Fox passed away peacefully Tuesday night, a gentlemen with one of the kindest souls I've ever encountered - Joe was one of my fathers best friend's and a part of our family.

Religiously for years, Joe and my dad would have lunch together several times a week and it was through joining them for those lunches, over the years I had the pleasure of and honor of getting to know this man and ultimately loving him. He was sort of a grandpa to me.

When the time came when dad could no longer drive to meet Joe for lunch, Joe would come to the house and pick up dad and take him to lunch.

When the time came when dad moved to the assisted living center and could no longer go out to lunch, Joe would drive out to sit with dad, while dad ate his lunch.

When the time came when dad no longer could feed himself, often Joe would grab a spoon and help feed dad.

When Joe could no longer drive himself, Joe's wife would bring him out to visit during lunch to sit with dad. Often, in silence, Joe would sit as dad's ability to communicate became less and less. As he left, Joe would bend down, and tell my dad "I love you Buddy."

Two weeks ago I visited Joe while he was in the hospital and sat with him as he ate his lunch. In true form, he made me laugh about the "rubber hamburger" they served him and how the hospital seemed to have a never ending supply of carrots.

I love you Mr. Joe Fox and I love you even more for loving my dad as his best friend.

Rest in peace you sweet, sweet man. Our entire family will miss you.

Mr. Fox, it has been many years since we have seen each other but the years never erased the memories.  You were a kind, funny gentleman.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

All of the Johnson Family are sorry to hear of Uncle Nolan's passing.  We enjoyed
so much seeing him at my Mother's funeral
in May and had a lot of laughs sharing our

Joe was such a kind person. He was so thoughtful and caring.  I admired him for his accomplishments in life and he was such a pleasure to work with in plumbing supplies.  He was from the old school and handled himself as such. A true gentleman.

Dad, you were the most amazing father a girl could ever hope for.  Your kind spirit and great personality made you a magnet to all with whom you came in contact.  You knew how to have a good time no matter where you were or who you were surrounded by.  You were such a positive role model and showed me the kind of man I should have in my own life.
