Born September 18, 1933, in Washington, NY, he was the son of the late Burton Robert Hoage and Gertrude Anderson Hoage. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton.
Burt was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the military police. He was a graduate of Bridgeport University and retired from General Electric as a mechanical engineer.
Burt moved to Newton in 2005 from Rutland, VT. He met Dot in their Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church in Newton. They were married in the church garden on June 15, 2012 and, as Burt said many, many times, “lived happily ever after”. He will be missed by all who knew him here.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Eckelstin.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Feimster Hoage, of the home; son, Mark Hoage, of Cornelius, NC; daughters, Karen Tilton, of Indian Land, SC, Susan Steele, of Charlotte, NC; stepdaughter, Terri McGee, of Conover, NC; 3 granddaughters; 3 step grandsons; and 5 great grandchildren.
A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 immediately following the 10:30 a.m. worship service at First United Methodist Church in Newton.
