Gary Wayne Simmons, 74, of Newton, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC. Born February 5, 1951, in Catawba County, NC, he was the son of the late Eugene Lowman and Blanche Simmons Lowman. Gary was a loving husband and brother, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church ELCA, (Startown), in Newton, NC.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Lowman and niece, Crystal Hamrick. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathy Fulbright Simmons; sister, Pamela Clark and her husband, Teddy, three brothers in laws, and their wives and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45AM and a Celebration of Life will start at 11:00AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at St Paul Lutheran Church ELCA, (Startown), with Pastor John Connolly officiating. Burial will follow in St. Pauls Memorial Park in Newton, NC.
