Jack Alfred Todd, Jr. passed away peacefully at Catawba Valley Medical Center on Thursday, March 28, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born December 24, 1938 in Granite Falls, North Carolina to the late Flora Viola Johnson Todd and Jack Alfred Todd, Sr.
Following high school, Jack served his country in the United States Navy. He was proud to be a member of Operation Hardtack, conducting oceanographic and atmospheric testing following atomic bomb detonations while aboard his ship, the USS Rehobeth, in the South Pacific. After the Navy, he met his wife, Edna and they went on to spend over 40 years together. They were the owners of Craig’s Market on Lake Norman in Sherrill’s Ford for many years until the business was sold in the early 90’s. After spending some time traveling, Jack went back to work and retired from CommScope.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna Braswell Todd, his “Edna Baby” whom he adored, 3 sisters, Mary “Pide” Cannon, Myra Pritchard and Elizabeth “Ann” Richards. He is survived by his sister, Alice Reese, along with his four sons, Steve Pritchard and wife Donna of Hickory, Mike Pritchard and wife Patricia of Balls Creek, Pat Pritchard and wife Jean of Lenoir and Jack Alfred “Bo” Todd III and wife Chandra of Maiden. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Clover Baptist Church in Granite Falls, with Rev. Keith Childers officiating. A graveside service with military rites will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
The family will receive prior to the service, from 3:00 to 3:45 at Clover Baptist Church.
