Louis Nunnery was my friend and somewhat cohort for 40 years. I knew and admired his mom to whom he was devoted. He taught my 4 daughters ballet, one being in the company. i even took one year myself. His recitals were the highlights for many. His life, work, and influence will be a treasured memory.

I was probably Louis's worst student. Starting around age 50, with no dance background or talent, I started his exercise class, which had an emphasis on ballet. He patiently tried to teach me the steps and all, and didn't seem to mind my fumbling around cuz I had so much fun trying.  A crusty character outwardly, but a heart of gold inwardly. Kind and understanding, wise, funny, you just liked being around him. I miss you, dear friend, and will cherish the fond memories always. Janine

Louis was an Amazing teacher & friend.  Everyone who met Louis loved him, and if you talked with him you left the conversation a more learned person.  Louis was always a teacher first whether Ballet or life, He was the most intelligent man I have ever known,  always had a wonderful outlook on life.  Louis you will be missed greatly, Heaven has gained a wonderful soul

Mr. Nunnery was an amazing teacher who taught me so much. I will never forget him and the love he had for ballet. He always believed in me and I owe so much to him. Love you!

Like so many others, I studied under Louis when I was a little girl. He introduced me to a new style of art which I have appreciated all my life. But Louis, there are stretches on that bar you tried to help me achieve - hey, I'm still trying!

We shared many wonderful years together and I will miss him deeply.

Having known you for fifty years, I can only wish you the best as you go to your next performance.  You are truly one of the funniest and creative men that ever shared air.  You will live on in the many stories you told and inspired!  Goodbye Dear Friend.  You remain George's favorite 'vegetable'!

I will never forget you, as a child I was a student for several years, you taught me so many life lessons. You nick-named me Angelique. It was an honor to have been your student.

I will miss you, my friend. Love and prayers go out to your family. You taught us dancers grace, poise, manners, self confidence and many other fine qualities in life, from day one! I'll never forget your lessons on picking up the right foot for piourette turns after you stomped on my foot and then said..."now pick up the one that hurts!" haha!!! I never forgot after that. What a joy you were and your quick sense of humor. You helped kick start my dancing, performing and teaching career for over 45 years and I'll always treasure the love of dance, thanks to you.

Mr  Nunnery  you  will  be  missed  very much by many people.  You were a special ballet teacher and friend that touched many hearts.  As once a student of yours I know you touched my heart.  Bless you my friend and let your spirit dance.

What wonderful memories of our dance classes in Charlotte and the Corvette trips to see your family back in the early 50's. Mama loved you almost as much as my sister and I did! Your influence on our young lives was profound, as I'm sure many more students to come after us.

You had a larger than life persona, I enjoyed the conversations everytime that we met. And everyone knew who was in that Rolls when we saw it, There goes Louis. RIP my friend, You will be missed.

Louis Nunnery - you will forever be remembered as an inspirational and astounding teacher in the dance community! The discipline and drive of your classes and the artistry of your ballets will serve as a path to what we should try to achieve as an artist and understand that we should never compromise our beliefs. You never did! Bravo!!!!

You were the epitome of kindness to my little family. You helped instill in my daughter a love of beauty and grace.
