Born June 4, 1936 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Yates and Annie Haynes Powell. Mrs. Richard loved to travel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Gantt.
Survivors include her spouse of 61 years, Joseph Richard; sons Larry Richard and wife Sharrian of Crouse, Joseph G. Richard, Jr. of Statesville, Yates Alexander Richard of Newport, TN; daughters Kathy R. Beaver and husband Karl of Vale, J. Renee Cook of Vale, and Lori A. Love and husband Lane of Charlotte; brother Max Powell of Vale; sisters Jeanette Black of Crouse, Brenda Willis and husband Eddie of Cherryville; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vale. Rev. John Locke will officiate.
