George was the son of the late Harold and Katherine (Wheelock) Blake on August 1, 1930 in Floral Park, New York. He was raised in Saddle River, NJ and was a resident of Ridgewood NJ for a number of years before moving to Newton in 1971. He was a proud U.S. Navy Corpsman.. Dr. Blake was an Optometrist and served the New Milford NJ and Newton communities for 30 years prior to his retirement. He was a former member of the Newton Lyons Club,the Newton Rotary Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Newton and was a member of the Newton United Methodist Church.
For over 50 years,the beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Gooss) Blake, George is survived by his daughter, Diane Blake of Green Twp, NJ; his son Steven and his wife Michele of Reading, PA and two grandsons, Riley Blake and Jonas Blake.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton, NJ 07860. Followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m.
