

John was born in Chicago, IL on June 12, 1941 to the late Roy and Golda (Tyler) Nafziger. John moved to River Edge, NJ when he was 11 years old, lived in Wayne and settled into Lafayette in 1976. Prior to his retirement, John was a Heavy Equipment Operator with Operating Engineers Local 825. John was a former Mayor of Lafayette in the 1980’s and served on the town committee for many years. He became a firemen for the Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department in August 1978, where he served as chief and was a life member. He was also a life member of the New Jersey State Fireman’s Association. He was passionate in building motors and his cobra kit cars.
The beloved husband and friend to Diane L. Nafziger, John is also survived by his children, Jodi Farischon and her husband, Joe, John Nafziger and his wife, Ruta, Jill Lucey and her husband, Patrick and Jennifer Moriarty and her husband, Christian; his grandchildren, Justin, Chelsea, Nicholas, Cody, Jeremy, Ryan, Hannah, Christian and Kaiden; his great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Amiee and his step-children, Christine Shauger (her children Ella and Rain) and Tara Bookstaver and her husband, Matthew. He is also survived and dearly missed by his dogs Marley, Emily and Addison.
All funeral services will be held privately.
