Mary was born and raised in Newton and was a lifelong Sussex County resident. She attended Newton High School, graduating in 1965. Mary was a single mother of two boys and worked for M&M Mars as a factory worker for 30 years prior to retiring in the early 2000’s.
Mary was an animal lover; she loved hummingbirds, turtles and all of her pets. She enjoyed listening to country music and completing puzzles. Mary also appreciated hot air balloons.
Mary was predeceased by her father, John Hovencamp. She is survived by her mother, Erma Hovencamp; her sons, Alan Hendershot and Chris Hendershot and wife, Lori; her granddaughter, Kayla Hendershot; her brother Jim Hovencamp and wife, Bernice; and her sisters, Gloria Putera and husband, Larry, and Susan Hovencamp and husband, Michael.
