WILHELM, Robert 'Bob' George - Passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday June 4, 2022 at the age of 75. Loving husband of Edith for 26 years. Beloved father of Michael (Beth) Hunter and Kelly (Blair Smith) Wilhelm, and step-father to Sean (Stephanie) Corcoran, Neil (Laura) Corcoran and Craig Corcoran (Katie Clark). Proud grandfather of Diana, Amelia, Audrey, Mason, Owen, Samantha and Julia. Dear son of the late Clement and Anna Wilhelm, beloved brother of Peter (Sandie), Jack (Cariene), Margaret Ann (the late Stephen), Joe (Carol), uncle to many nieces and nephews in Canada and England. Born in Walkerton, Ontario, and raised in St. Catharines, Bob attended Lakeport High School. He then received his Bachelor of Arts from Brock University before continuing to teacher’s college, also at Brock University. He worked as a teacher for the District School Board of Niagara for 30 years, taking great pride in his students’ accomplishments. Following his retirement, Bob and Edith spent many happy years living in Niagara Falls, tending to their beautiful garden and hosting family and friends from across Canada and from England. Bob was known for his consummate hosting skills, generous pours, and ready jokes, especially anything resembling Irish humour. An avid follower of politics, he was always up for a discussion of the issues of the day, held firmly to his position but loved the thrill of the debate. A doting grandfather, he was happiest when at home surrounded by family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Friday June 10, 2022 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 pm at the funeral home. In memory of Bob, memorial contributions may be made to Project Share or The Canadian Lung Association (COPD Programming), and would be appreciated by his family.
