JJ will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen Stearne, his chosen children Bill & Amber and Terra & Dana, and his cherished granddaughter Nora.
He is now reunited with his parents, Gwen (1996) & Jake Fast (2024), and his beloved first wife, Caroline Fast (1999). He was also predeceased by his in-laws Gord (2015) & Dianne McInnes (2018) and Ron Stearne (2025), as well as his nephew Eric Lim.
He was the dear brother of Doug & Kathy Fast, Nancy & John Hodgson, and Bob & Wanda Fast.
He will be deeply missed by his extended family, including his mother-in-law Elizabeth Stearne; brothers- and sisters-in-law Barbara & Alan Makins, Susan & Ed Stangret, Janet Morettie, Mary & Tae Lim, Kim, Corey, Creig & Paul, and Christine Stearne.
A proud and devoted uncle, JJ will be fondly remembered by Jennifer, Sean & Rosie Meister, Candice, Adam & Alexander Horsman, Alyssa Fast & Cameron Fraser, Stephen, Adrienne, Lauren & Joel Hodgson, Mackenzie Fast, Veronica Fast & Brian Calder, John, Jessica, Charlotte & Rose Morettie, Charlie, Alycia, Sparrow, Pilar & Milo Morettie, Darryl Stangret & Brandi Phillips, Scott, Vanessa & Nylah Stangret, Sarah Ben, Simon & Georgia Goodwin, Lisa & Gordon Desgagnes, Breanne Lim and Josh Lim.
He was the nephew of Dan Fast and Marg Fast
JJ built a long and respected career as an accountant and was a Lifetime Member of Chartered Accountant Professionals. His professional life was marked by dedication, integrity and the many lasting relationships he formed along the way.
A lifelong sports enthusiast and devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan, JJ took great pride in his growing collection of sports memorabilia. He enjoyed talking sports, following his teams and sharing that passion with family and friends.
Giving back to his community was also an important part of JJ’s life. Through his years of service with the Chippawa Lions, including serving as a Past A2 District Governor, he made a meaningful difference in the lives of others. He was also a generous supporter of numerous charities and causes close to his heart.
Above all, JJ will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humour and the countless lives he touched through both his work and his community service.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, fellow sports fans, and the many people who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Patterson Funeral Home Ltd., 6062 Main Street, Niagara Falls. Visitation will continue on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery following the chapel service.
