I worked with Dave at the Princess back in 1963-64.I remember him as very friendly and cheerful.Last I saw him was in 1975 when my wife had a car accident on Queen St. He was driving by and drove her home to get me. A perfectly nice guy.

Jean:  My mum & dad (Laurette & Bill Cullen) used to bowl with you when they first moved here from Montreal.  You made them feel so welcome and made a fast friendship. When my dad passed away, you made sure that mom was still included and felt a part of things.  I did meet you & Dave a couple of times and I could see why they felt the way they did.  Mom turned 97 on Sunday and is in Pioneer Elder Care with dementia - but does remember us and people when I give her the right clues. I will let her know and please know that we are thinking of you and the Taylor family at this time.

To Jean, Dave, Greg & Scott ... I'm sad to have read Dave's obit yesterday. It's been so long ago (50 years) since I worked alongside Dave and you, his Sons at the Princess Theatre. Dave was one of the nicest people I've known. I always remember him coming down the stairs during intermission to have a smoke break with his pipe! Condolences to all of you, the Taylor Family.

Especially good times on our May long weekend fishing adventures and hanging out in the boat with Uncle Dave and Dad ("Merton").....I know I was an annoyance quite often when I seemed to catch fish quite easily and those times they would come back empty handed.  Was always 'game on' whether we were fishing, playing mini putt, or the infamous NYE's games night...special times never to be forgotten. To the Taylor family, We were saddened to hear that your Dad has passed away. I remember the younger days when Mr. Taylor took us water skiing on the Niagara River up by Fort Erie, A great Man and he will be missed. Sharing in your sadness  as you  remember your Dad.

I share my condolences with the entire Taylor family. I too grew up on 5th Avenue, and the Taylor family, and David Taylor in particular, was the heart of our neighborhood. The Taylor home was the center of the street (aptly positioned), and the property also served as "game central."  The lamp post at the end of their hedge was "home" for "hide-and-seek"; ball hockey; and numerous other games and memories that brought everyone together and still brings a smile to my face.  Mr. Taylor was in every sense of the term - a "good man." He was an easy man to admire. I could share many stories, but here I will share one - that speaks to his character and the impact he had, on not only myself, but no doubt many others.  We were playing racketball at the YMCA nearby, and I was young, and the match was pretty lopsided.  I don't recall being intentional about my efforts slacking - but I must have done something to show I wasn't trying as hard. He stopped; pulled me aside; looked me sternly in the eye; and said something to the effect: "don't you dare let up and not give me your best effort on every point - no matter how uneven our match is."  It is a lesson I never forgot and a testament to the man and the principles he lived by.  "In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock." (Thomas Jefferson). Mr. Taylor - you were a rock and you will be missed!

We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad, Mr. Taylor.  Condolences to all of the family at this very sad time.  Will remember his great piano playing, occasionally,  at Chippawa Presbyterian Church .  Keeping you all in our prayers.

To Scott & Aimee, Dave, Greg, Mrs T, and all your kids. Mr. T was the  cornerstone  of 5th ave. He was a second father to me growing up with you guys. Whether it was fihing for bass in the "Sting" using a silver flat fish #7, or  seeing Star Wars for 38 days in a row. He always welcomed me to come along!
My fondest memories are seeing him and your mom playing games under the light of your front porch in the summer. He will be missed! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all!
