MOTTOLA, Dean Michael, 1964 - 2025 - With profound sadness and much love in our hearts, we the family of our Dean share his passing at Hospice Niagara on August 24, 2025 at the age of 61 after a brave, hard fought battle with cancer. Much loved son of Carol Mottola (nee Petts) and the late Alf (2005). Cherished father of Michael (Jill) Mottola and dearest brother to Kelli (Larry) Bosco. Fun, loving uncle 'Deano' will be missed by Connor Bosco (Lisa) Caputo and Laurynn Bosco (Marko Dirlic). Dean will be deeply missed by his aunts and uncles; Sharon and Dave Cole, John and Carm Mottola, Jean and Ken Hetherington, Peter and Judy Mottola, and will also be missed by many cousins and dear friends. Dean will be forever remembered by his dear, loving and supportive friend Sherri Branscombe (Chris Holmes) who also helped our family through this difficult time. Dean grew up in Niagara Falls, making many friends along the way. He attended Cherry Wood Acres School and Princess Elizabeth where he was know as the class 'prankster, the staff cringed when they heard another Mottola was following - behind his sister Kelli. His pranks carried on to his home life where he enjoyed scaring his family. Following school, he drove school bus for the Catholic School Board and the kids loved him and he loved them. He soon became custodian at St. Joseph's and retiring from the Board after working at St. Gabriel School. Dean loved the outdoors - road hockey, hiking and building forts. He excelled in baseball as short stop. His passion was reading and fishing. He could always be seen with a book in his hand and was known well at the public Library. When not in class, he could be found fishing in the gorge or any other illegal fishing spots. He often took his son Michael and his father Alf with him even ice-fishing. Dean got to enjoy many family vacations, Scotland, Mexico, Cuba and Jamaica. He will be sadly missed by his dear family, many friends especially at the Sunset. Loved forever and missed by many never to be forgotten. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the many care givers at Hospice Niagara for their overwhelming compassionate care that they gave to Dean. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family at PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, on Tuesday September 2, 2025 from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9 pm. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery. A Celebration of life will take place at a future date. In memory of Dean memorial donations can be made to Hospice Niagara and would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be shared at pattersonfuneralhome.com.
