

It is with deep love and cherished memories that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable woman, Diane, who left us surrounded by the warmth of her family on June 18, 2026 at the age of 76. Diane is now reunited with her beloved husband of 51 years, Marcel (2019) and cherished son Marc (2019). She was a loving mother to Darlene Kitcher and son-in-law Ron who remained a devoted presence in her life. Diane was predeceased by her parents, Anicet and Yvette Rheault. She is survived by her sister, Claire Lavallée, and fondly remembered by her brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as her nieces and nephews.
Cherished grandmother, and lovingly known as “Mémé” to Nathan, Abby, Maia and Forest. Mémé always looked forward to her special outings with Nathan where they bonded deeply.
Known to all for her infectious joie de vivre and vibrant sense of humour, Diane brought light and laughter into every room she entered.
In her earlier years Diane had a passion for cooking, and her famous Clams Casino was a legendary staple at gatherings, requested by everyone who knew her. Beyond the kitchen, her greatest joy was her family. She created lasting traditions and endless laughter playing games of "Tuck-tuck", vacationing and spending time with her family, that were moments they will forever hold close to their hearts. She also loved adventure and excitement, always looking forward to her favourite outings to the casino. She also cherished her time in the garden, nurturing flowers and plants with the same patience and tenderness she showed the people in her life.
In her later years, she channelled her creativity into diamond art, proudly earning the affectionate title of the “Diamond Art Queen.” Her projects brought joy to many residents, staff, family and friends.
From 1977 to 2000, Diane dedicated 23 years as a server at Mama Mia’s, where her warmth and kindness earned her life-long friendships with many of her colleagues. An avid lover of nature, she spent her happiest moments outdoors, creating beautiful memories with Marcel when she was not working
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, staff and volunteers at Chippawa Creek at Bella Care Residence. Diane was truly loved there.
Diane will be remembered for her kind and caring nature, qualities that touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a gentle way of making people feel seen, supported, and valued, and her warmth left a lasting imprint on countless hearts.
A celebration of life will be held at Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main St, Niagara Falls, on June 29, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served. A private inurnment will take place shortly thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
