1935 - 2026
With profound sadness, the family of Dulcie Isabel Susin (nee Krueger) announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by loved ones at the Marotta Family Hospital, St. Catharines.
Born in Pembroke, Ontario on February 17, 1935 to the late William and Johanna Krueger, Dulcie was known for her gentle spirit, caring heart, and incredible baking. Dulcie found beauty in the simple things: a well-tended garden, sharing stories and laughter with family and friends, and the years spent caring for her many grandchildren. Whether it was her signature apple pies and date squares, or her perfectly crafted crustoli and pizzelles, there was always a treat waiting in her kitchen. She welcomed everyone with a seat at her table and a kindness that made them stay. She was the quiet strength of her family - a woman whose hands were rarely still and whose door was always open. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Dulcie is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Fermino, and their children Carol, Michael (Lise), James (Susanne), Lisa (John) and Jeffrey. She was a cherished Nona to Audrey, Monica, Melissa, Matthew, Catherine, Andrew (Heather), Kevin, Lily, Grace, Lauren, John Jr. and Bryon, and Bisnona to Rose.
She is also survived by her sister Joanna (late George) Spencer; her sisters-in-law Dianne Susin, Esther Susin, Gloria (late Dorino) Susin, Gloria (late Benny) DeVenz, and Theresa (late Gerry) Lensborn; and her brothers-in-law Habibur (late Anita) Raham, and John (late Phyllis) Susin; along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings Alexa (Elmer) Waito, Clifford (Marion), Conrad (Lucy), Gilbert, James (Vera), Josephine, Ray (Amanda), Stanley (Elva), and Viola (Harold) Krueger; and sister-in-law Sister Stella Marie (Jenny Susin).
The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Soliman and the dialysis teams at the St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, and Welland sites, for their commitment to Dulcie’s health through the years. To the wonderful nurses and doctors at the Marotta Family Hospital, thank you for providing her with such comfort and care in her final moments.
Visitation will take place at the Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at the funeral home, on Saturday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. In memory of Dulcie, donations to the PKD Foundation of Canada or the Niagara Health Foundation Kidney Care Program would be appreciated.
