Elizabeth 'Betty' Solose

SOLOSE, Elizabeth 'Betty' (neé Laba) - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday November 19, 2016 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of 69 years to Paul Solose. Loving mother of John (Judy) (the late Jean) Solose, Tom (Cindy) Solose, Paul Solose Jr. and Patti (the late George Schenck) Solose. Cherished Baba/Grandmother of Charlene (Mike) Spiotti, John Jr. (Andrea) Solose, Julie (Sal) Iamarino, Dan Bree, Amy (Ryan) Horth, Melissa (Mark) O'Quinn. Cherished Baba/Great Grandmother of Madison and Cassidy Spiotti, Damian Iamarino, Skya Horth, Myla Solose, Teagan O'Quinn, Nate Horth, Lylah O'Quinn and Zoie Solose. Predeceased by her parents Wasyl and Anne Laba and siblings Mary, John, George, Lil, Alex, Mike, Peter, Jennie, Roy and Marge. Loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Also lovingly missed by her extended family; Baba/Grandmother to Barbara Atkinson Lavey, David (Michele) Lavey, Christine Lavey and Baba/Great Grandmother to Dustin Atkinson, Emily Atkinson, Owen Atkinson, Harper Lavey, Evelyn Lavey, Rio Hermoza-Lavey and Taeo Hermoza-Lavey. Some of her greatest times were spent with family farming, running their motel business, fishing up north and spending winter in Florida. She was a lifetime member of the Niagara German-Canadian Club. Our family would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Miller and the staff of The Greater Niagara General Hospital Palliative Care Unit, to Dr. Mehran Anvari and his staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton, for extending Mom's quality of life and to Alzheimer Specialist Dr. Sam and Geriatrics Specialist Christine Lamau. Also thanks to Liz Adams from CCAC and all the PSWs who took such special care of Mom and were such a help to us. Thanks also to Dr. Saeed, Mom's family physician, who went above and beyond expectations in caring for Mom, and to the March of Dimes and Care Partners in Home Nursing staff. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. visiting Friday December 2 from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Vigil prayers will be celebrated at 3 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 12:30 pm at St. Thomas More Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Lundy's Lane Cemetery.
