Elizabeth Bosgraaf

Passed peacefully on to her eternal home surrounded by her children on Monday September 28th at Shalom Manor at the age of 90. Loving wife to William for 67 years before his passing in 2024. Dear mother of Richard (Wilma), Debbie (Andy), and Michelle (Mark). Loving Oma to Brandon (Lindsay), Brianna (Mark), Celeste (Nicholas), Connor, Cody (Hannah), and Justin. Great Grandmother to Tilman, Lailah, Lidiah, Leah, and Ruby. Sister-in-law to Hank (Coby). Predeceased by Grandson Spencer Mark and Sister-in-law Jane (Jerry).

Born Elizabeth Visser in a small town called Sneek in the Netherlands, Elizabeth was raised most of her childhood by a single mother. She had fond memories of her homelife and often talked about her many mischievous adventures with girlfriends and all of the fun they had. Elizabeth worked for a photographer as a teenager and she leaves behind many beautiful pictures she posed for. Elizabeth (Betty) met her husband William (Bill) in Holland when they were teenagers. They were engaged and shortly after William left for Canada with his family, with plans to return for Elizabeth when they were settled. Less than two years later he returned for Elizabeth and brought her back to Ontario, where they lived with William’s family and were married in 1957.

Elizabeth worked as a nanny until William and Elizabeth started growing their family. They lived in Fenwick for a number of years until they bought a new home in Niagara Falls in 1968, where she continued to live until she moved to Shalom in 2021. Elizabeth loved singing in her church choir, and was an active member of the Lioness Club for many years. William and Elizabeth had their routine and were often seen having coffee and splitting a muffin at McDonalds, and spending Saturdays at the Seaway Mall. Elizabeth loved spending time with her Grandchildren, and loved shopping- especially for a new purse. Elizabeth remained very stylish well into her 80s and kept all four of her ear piercings on each side, often getting the PSW’s at Shalom to switch out her studs. She moved to Shalom two years before William, where the staff lovingly cared for her for more than five years, and we are grateful for the love and care they provided. Bill and Betty are together again enjoying their afternoon coffee and muffin.

A private family interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery. Family & friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life at Faith Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 4878 Jepson St. Niagara Falls, ON on Friday October 2nd at 11am with a light lunch to follow.
