Beloved wife of the late Joseph Hennessy, who predeceased her on April 22, 2023. Loving mother of Lorraine (Rob) Clocherty and Graeme Hennessy (Meg Mulligan). Cherished grandmother of Nicole Serra, Janine Sedgwick, and Jaclyn Serra, and proud great-grandmother of Nathaniel and Hailey.
Born in Dundee, Scotland, on December 30, 1932, Betty lived a long and fulfilling life. During the Second World War, at the age of eight, her ship was torpedoed by German U-boats while attempting to leave Britain. She was a championship ballroom dancer and later enjoyed lawn bowling and Scottish country dancing. Following her retirement from John Coutts Library Services, Betty and Joe spent 26 wonderful winters in Florida.
Betty will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
