I've  just now learned of Franks passing. I worked with him in the CHSC newsroom. We would stay in touch as I would phone when I brought my family to Niagara Falls. He was always supportive and a wonderful person to work with. And we had some fun times. Linda might remember that I joined them when the three of us went to see Elvis in Niagara Fall N.Y. in the summer of 1975. I was all of 19 years of age. Frank liked to laugh even when the news of the day wasn't very "funny".  I remember a story about one of Jim Marino's chocolate bars being eaten by yours truly. Frank laughed about that one when Jim got mad at me.


I knew Frank had some health issues but didn't know that he had passed. I'll always remember the fun times. To Linda and family please accept my belated offering of sympathy. Even though it's been 40 years and then some since Frank and I worked together I think the greatest tribute I can pay him is to let you know that I'll miss him too. God bless..

I worked with Frank @ CHSC in the early 70's and became good friends with him. We shared many a laugh in that old building and  maintained contact until I left the business years ago.  He was always one of the 'good guys'. I will remember him as he was in our tiny newsroom on Queenston St.  RIP , Frank.

Linda, family and friends. I would see Frank in Corbloc when CHRE and the CHCH bureau were in the building. He would always say hello and greet me with a smile. He was such a kind man and well respected in the business. I offer my sincere condolences to you. Lauran Sabourin.

I have many fond memories of working with Frank for a good number of years in the CHSC/CHRE newsroom. One could always depend on Frank for his reliability and professionalism in getting the story right. His work ethics were outstanding, he was very conscientious, and you could always depend on Frank to do an excellent job. There were many serious moments in dealing with some of the news stories, but there were also several lighter moments too. Frank loved broadcast journalism and they certainly don't come any better than him. My thoughts and are prayers are with Frank and his family.

I was saddened to read of Frank's passing, and at such an early age.  As youngsters, my brother Gordon Fanstone and I often played with Frank as we lived not far apart in Stamford Centre.  I have many memories from those years and of later listening to Frank on the radio.  He had a wonderful radio voice.  I'm sorry it has been stilled. I worked with Frank at CHSC for eight years following my college graduation. He was an incredible newsman with a great sense of humour. I remember when his lead story went like this:  "What's black and white and sits at the bottom of the Welland Canal?" This was after an OPP cruiser went into the canal during a chase (no one hurt!). He was very innovative, a great mentor and a great friend.
