Gerry Tullio, deeply loved husband, father, Nonno, and great-Nonno, passed away at home surrounded by his family at the age of 93. Gerry was born in Gallinaro, a small town in Italy, just southeast of Rome. At the age of 17, encouraged by his father, Gerry braved a 14-day trans-Atlantic voyage from Naples to Halifax in search of new opportunities. He brought his rich heritage, strong work ethic and warm heart to Canada. He settled in Niagara Falls and married Elaine, the love of his life in 1960, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned 66 cherished years. To Gerry, family was not just a part of life; it was his greatest joy and ultimate proudest achievement. He was a devoted and loving father to Sandra (Sandy), Carla (Nigel), and Gerald (Virginia). His legacy of love blossomed further through his grandchildren, Bianca (Jay), David (Sydney), Cameron (Bianca), and Geordie (Claire), who absolutely cherished their Nonno. He was also blessed to be a proud great-grandfather to Adrianna and Giuliana. Gerry held a special place in his heart for his dear sister-in-law Carol, and an additional spot in his stomach for her homemade pasta. He was predeceased by his parents Rosa and Gerardo and his dearest sisters Luisa and Enrica. Gerry believed in the value of hard work and community. He literally shaped the landscape of his new home, working for Hydro as a skilled crane operator digging the Welland Canal. His appreciation for nature grew during his time learning about trees at Gauld Nurseries, and he spent the final chapter of his career working with a great bunch of guys at the Niagara Catholic District School Board as small engine mechanic and locksmith. Gerry will be remembered for his steady hands, devotion to the people he loved, and the quiet strength he gave to everyone around him. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and the community he helped build. Visitation is at Patterson’s Funeral Home on Sunday, July 12, (2:00 to 5:00 PM). A funeral mass celebrating Gerry’s life will be held at St. Patrick’s Church on Monday, July 13, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Gerry's memory to St. Vincent de Paul or a charity of one’s choice..
