Gianni 'John' Bonaldo

BONALDO, Gianni 'John' - Passed away peacefully at Meadows of Dorchester on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the age of 91.  Beloved husband of 60 years to Lydia Bonaldo.  Dearly loved father of Sandro 'Sach' (Rose) Bonaldo and Franco 'Frank' Bonaldo.  Cherished Nonno of Vanessa (Jordan) Rupay, Cassandra Bonaldo (Eric) and Johnfranco Bonaldo (Amber).  Dear brother of Anna Guerin, Aurora (Santin) Pinton and Teresa (Benito) Bressan and brother-in-law of Gabriella Bonaldo.  Predeceased by his sisters Suor Fiorenza Bonaldo and Angela (Carlin) Petrin, his brothers Marcello Bonaldo and Gildo (Graziosa) Bonaldo and his brother-in-law Angelo Guerin.  Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Bonaldo was born in S. Andrea O/M, Italy on March 27, 1925, the son of the late Secondo and Marcellina Bonaldo.  He immigrated to Canada in 1949, settling in Niagara Falls, traveling also to Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury and he worked at General Abrasives, retiring after 30 years of service.  He had a passion for his meticulously kept garden and he was proud of his ability to make wine the old-fashioned way.  He was also an avid hockey fan who enjoyed watching the Niagara Falls Flyers and the Boston Bruins, especially his favourite player Bobby Orr, and he loved listening to the commentary of Don Cherry.  Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. visiting Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 am at St. Patrick's Church.  The Rite of Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  In memory of Mr. Bonaldo, donations to The Matthew Daniele Memorial Fund would be appreciated by his family.  Online condolences at www.pattersonfuneralhome.com
