Giovanni 'John' Santesso

SANTESSO, Giovanni 'John' - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Giovanni at Hospice Niagara on Thursday October 26, 2023 at the age of 88, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of 63 years to Maria (nee Falcomer). Loving father of Rosanna and Frank (Marisa) Santesso. Cherished Nonno of Marco, Christian and Alexandra. He is also survived by his sister Bruna (the late Ferruccio) Gruarin, brother Luigino (the late Franca) Santesso, sister-in-law Lillian (the late Mario) Santesso, numerous nieces and nephews in both Canada and Italy, sharing a special bond with nieces Nancy, Susan, Sandra and the late Diane Santesso. Giovanni was the heart and soul of our family, and he will be dearly missed. Giovanni was an avid soccer fanatic, playing professionally with the Glasgow Celtics in the late 1950s before making his journey to Canada. Giovanni came to Canada and started his own business, Columbus Plate, where he helped in developing much of the Niagara Region. He was a great provider for his family and left us all a legacy of love which will never be forgotten. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Timothy Tatzel for the wonderful care that he provided to John. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 am at St. Thomas More Church. The Rite of Entombment will follow at Fairview Mausoleum. In memory of Mr. Santesso, donations to Hospice Niagara or The Niagara Health Foundation (Walker Family Cancer Centre) or  would be greatly appreciated by his family.
