Harry Edwin Maynard passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 31, 2026, in his 80th year. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Michelle. Also survived by his son Jeff, his daughter Charlotte (Christian), granddaughter Lia and grandson Jonas. Predeceased by his parents Joe and Dorothy Maynard.
Harry grew up in Huntsville, Ontario. As a lad, he played lacrosse for the Huntsville Hawks, and later the Wallaceburg Red Devils. It was at Western University that he met Michelle. After graduation, he spent a few years working for London Life, then joined Weston Bakeries Ltd. In a business career spanning 38 years, he held a number of positions, ending as Manager of Independent Distributor Relations.
Through his years at university, his working career and his love of all sports, Harry formed so many wonderful friendships with life-long friends. Golf trips with close pals, lots of fun and socialization with neighbours along the way, not to mention all the renovations he had to endure every time there was a necessary move. And then all the pets through the years. Harry loved animals and nature. He was a kind and gentle soul. Always with a smile and a giggle ready.
Harry was always very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was ready with help or advice whenever needed but more important was his ever-present sense of humour and voice of reason. He will be deeply missed.
The Maynard family would like to thank the wonderful care provided by OHAH, the Paramed team, St Elizabeth nurses, and Dr Ricciardi. Words cannot express our gratitude.
As per Harry’s wishes, cremation has followed a private family visitation. On Saturday November 14, 2026 from 11am to 3pm, there will be an informal OPEN DOOR at Harry’s home at 6948 Harriman Street, Niagara Falls for anyone who wishes to drop in for a coffee and a chat with the family.
It is the family’s hope that anyone wishing to remember Harry will kindly donate to the Ontario SPCA or to the charity of their choice.
