

THOMPSON, James Andrew “Jimmy”As the result of a tragic motorcycle accident, doing the thing he loved Jim succumbed to his injuries on Sunday November 8, 2009 at 61 years of age. He is mourned by his loving wife, Karen Ann Thompson (Savriga), his cherished children and their spouses Maureen Linda Martin (Bradley), James Cameron Thompson (Courtney Hall) his loving and only brother and his wife Dr.John Robert and Heather Thompson, Jim’s brothers and sisters-in-law who also love and miss him are Dennis and Lorraine Savriga, Linda and John Haitos, Gregory Savriga and Linda Gorslin and cousin-in-law Sonja Williamson and family. Uncle Jimmy also leaves 15 nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews. Jim predeceased by his parents Mary and Donald Thompson and grandparents Anna and Dr. George French and Grace and Will Thompson. Jim was one of the first five employees at Nanticoke Generating Station on Lake Erie and completed 35 years service. He and his family lived in Simcoe for over thirty years before moving back to Niagara Falls: Jim was an active member of Norfolk Historical Society and a 25 year member of St. James United Church in Simcoe. Jim loved classic motorcycle restoration, canoe tripping, gardening, fixing almost anything, the cottage, and boating, but most of all Jim was a kind and generous guy who never said no to helping out anyone, Mr. Fixit will be truly missed. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at HETHERINGTON & DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls, on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 5645 Morrison Street (near Stanley) on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. Burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Donations to either Heart & Stroke Foundation or to Humane Society.
