Joan Ann (Bailey) Cournoyea

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Ann Cournoyea,on June 9, 2026, at the age of 88. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Cournoyea, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories.

She will be forever cherished by her children: Wesley (Cathy) Cournoyea, Tammy Mauro (Rob), Jim Cournoyea, Vicki Cournoyea Bain, and David (Lydia) Cournoyea.

Joan was a proud and devoted grandmother to John (Renee) Mauro, Michael Cournoyea, Jennifer (Dwayne) Guitard, Blake Bain, Erica (Deian) Kutev, Olivia Cournoyea, Joshua Cournoyea, Bailey Cournoyea, Delaney Cournoyea, and Devon Cournoyea. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Ila Bailey, siblings Andrew, Robert, Garnett and Debbie Bailey and her grandson Paul Mauro and son-in-law Ron Mauro.

Joan is also lovingly remembered by her sister Linda (Sam) McBurney, along with several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

She also leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Jacob Guitard, Hayden and Morgan Mauro, Benjamin and Nicholas Cournoyea, Kalina Kutev, and Knox Bonin, who brought her immense joy and pride.

Joan will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and compassion, leaving behind a legacy that will live on in all who loved her.

A private family service will be held to honour Joan’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to cherish your loved ones, just as Joan always did.
