BARRETT, John Frederick - Passed away suddenly at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, with his loving wife Suzanne at his side, on Thursday November 28, 2019 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Suzanne Letourneau. Dearly loved father of Debbie (Peter) De iulio and Dave (Tracy) Barrett, and step-father of Shelley Gautier (Alan Greer). Cherished grandfather of Jordan and Melina De iulio. Dear brother of Tom Barrett and brother-in-law of Claude (Helen) Letourneau, Diane (Andy) Marsillo, Michel (Janice) Letourneau, Jerry Letourneau and Rita Letourneau. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Marian Barrett, his sisters Lee (Bob) Wood and Susan Barrett, and brother-in-law Ron Letourneau. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. John was a special person, a shining light, fun loving and thoughtful. He enjoyed sharing a good joke, was always laughing and surrounded by people. He loved a good party and lived life to the fullest. John had more than 25 years of successful accomplishments with Nestle, climbing the ladder and eventually retiring as Business Development Manager. His countless connections made there are still strong today; friends fondly referring to him as 'Mr. Chocolate'. John was a lover of all things sports; his Jays, his Leafs, golf, football and possibly in part due to his granddaughter’s passion, basketball too. That included reading the sports section daily, cover to cover, eagerly soaking up every stat. He spent many years proudly coaching, refereeing hockey and umpired baseball for 18 years in the Halton County and COBA leagues. John especially loved being outdoors in the sun, be it basking by the pool or playing every round of golf and bocce that he could with our many friends. He was a travelled man, seeing the world (literally every country in his heart’s desire) and loved the cruise life, going on more than 30. Winters were spent in Florida out of the bitter Ontario cold - this year being the first he ever missed. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Wednesday December 11, 2019 from 10 am to 12 pm. A Celebration of John's life will follow at 12 pm at the funeral home. In memory of John, donations may be made to Heart Niagara, and would be appreciated by his family.
