after a long five-and-a-half-month struggle, at the age of 75, passed away at Niagara General Hospital on the morning of May 2nd 2026 with his beloved wife Helena by his side. Predeceased by his father Antonio Ciccone and mother Maria Cambareri Ciccone, Joseph leaves behind his wife of 51 years Helena Szubert Ciccone, son Alex Ciccone with wife Jennifer Rosenich Ciccone, son Stefan Ciccone with wife Chelsea Mcpherson Ciccone, grandson Domenic Ciccone, sister Josie Ciccone Berg with husband Ron Berg, brother Robert Ciccone with wife Sandra Giordano Ciccone, niece Jennifer Berg and nephew Christopher Berg.
Joseph was born in Calabria Italy in 1950 and arrived in Canada at the tender age of 2 and a half years along with his mother and 4-year-old sister. After a long journey by ship, they finally arrived to join his father who ventured out first to establish and start a new a life in Canada.
Growing up in Toronto, Joseph always claimed he lived in two worlds. The one he experienced when he stepped out of his family’s front door to the outside world of school, sports and friends and the closed world he always returned to that adhered to Italian traditions of a close-knit family. Through those experiences he learned to pick and choose the best of both worlds.
After years of working for Vidal Sassoon in Yorkville as a stylist and later manager he decided to build his own enterprise and left Toronto for Calgary Alberta in 1981. In 1982 he opened a salon named Scenarios and later in 2006 transitioned into a renovation contracting business with long- time friend and business partner Rick Lage. In 2013 together with wife Helena, he returned to Ontario to a retirement life by the lake in Fort Erie.
His departure leaves a quiet space in the world for those who knew him well. His outgoing personality brought into light a unique wit and sense of humour to almost any situation and he was always known for his enduring loyalty for the people he cared for and loved.
