Joseph Paterson passed away peacefully on October 26, 2026, at the age of 91. Joseph resided in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (2020). Loving father of Bruce, Joseph Jr. (Lesley), late Gordon and the late Jacqueline. Dear grandfather of Sasha, Anthony, Angelina and Mario. Great Grandfather of Xavier and Lex, Chloe and Madison, Jack, Gavin and Athena.
Born on June 28, 1935, in Glasgow, Scotland, Joseph’s life was marked by a spirit of adventure that carried him far from his beginnings. In 1963, he immigrated from Scotland to the Yukon, embracing the challenge of a new place and the opportunities it held.
Joseph built a working life defined by steady dedication and pride in his trade, working as a Boilmaker with Local 128. His commitment to honest work and to those he worked alongside remained a constant throughout the years.
In 1959, Joseph married the love of his life, Margaret Sarah Hunter, beginning a partnership rooted in devotion and enduring care.
Joseph also valued simple, meaningful companionship. He loved spending time with friends for a pint at the old Drummond Inn—now The Usual Suspects Cocktails and Grill—in Niagara Falls, where conversation and camaraderie were always close at hand.
Faith and service were important to Joseph. He attended St. Patrick Church and was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, living out a quiet commitment to community and fellowship.
Joseph will be remembered with respect and gratitude by all who knew him, and by those who shared in his work, his faith, and his friendship.
The family will receive friends at Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main Street, Niagara Falls, ON on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, Victoria Avenue, on Monday, November 2, 2026 at 11 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
