Katherine Stangret

Katherine Stangret (nee) Speidelsbach, age 98, of Niagara Falls passed away peacefully, September 14, 2026 at Oakwood Park Lodge. Katherine was born November 21,1927. In 1949 after the war, Katherine and her husband Stanley moved from Germany to start a new life.

Katherine began her career as a stay at home mom raising three boys. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved feeding the squirrels and the ducks. Katherine was an avid gardener who enjoyed tending to her backyard flower and vegetable gardens.

Katherine was a very strong willed woman and extremely independent. She continued to live in her home alone for 35 years after the passing of her husband in 1987.

As time passed she began appreciating time outdoors with her dear friend Bernie enjoying boat rides and riding their bikes.

As a mother of three Katherine was very fortunate. She lived a long life with little illness.

Katherine is survived by her children; Edward (Susan) and Daniel, daughter-in-law Sandra, grandchildren; Darryl (Brandi), Scott (Vanessa), Lisa (Gordon), Michael (Natasha) and great- grandchild Nylah.

Predeceased by her son Tad and his daughter Paula.

As per Katherine’s wishes, a private family service will be held at Patterson Funeral Home followed by the internment at Fairview Cemetery.
