Lynda Dianne Phillips

Born in Orangeville, Ontario, Lynda lived a life that was anything but stationary. Over the years she called Coboconk, Windsor, Toronto, Welland, New Liskeard, Japan, Whitby and Niagara Falls home - and, true to her adventurous spirit, was known to decide every few years that perhaps it was time to live somewhere else.

Lynda was fiercely independent, adventurous, a tad eccentric, endlessly curious and, most certainly, a free spirit. She earned a Doctorate in Philosophy and possessed a lifelong appetite for learning and experiencing the world. She was also the author of several books, another reflection of her curiosity, intellect and desire to share her ideas with others. She loved travelling, cruises, long walks and time spent at the monastery. Staying comfortably inside the lines was never particularly her style. Her career was filled with many varied roles, most notably as a professor at Seneca College and Humber College, and later, as a grade school teacher.

Later in life, Lynda found the love of her life in her husband, Stephen Phillips. Together they travelled the world and shared a wonderful chapter of adventure, companionship and love. As Lynda's health declined, Stephen gave her an extraordinary gift: the ability to remain at home with the person she loved. His devotion was remarkable - sometimes preparing three different dinners in a single evening in the hope that one might tempt her appetite. Lynda loved him dearly, and her family will forever be grateful for the tenderness, patience and unwavering care he gave her.

Lynda is lovingly remembered by Stephen; her children, Jonathan, Steven and Pauline; her sisters, Wanda and Sandra; and her grandchildren, Lyric, Nova, Alessandra, Christopher, Ava and Aaron.

The family would also like to extend a very special thank you to Barbara Summers, Leslie O'Hagen and Ruth Ellis for their friendship, kindness and incredible support throughout the past several years.

Lynda's life was unconventional, adventurous and uniquely her own. She went where curiosity took her, lived according to her own compass and left behind plenty of stories along the way. Those who knew her will remember a woman who was never terribly interested in being ordinary - and the world was considerably more interesting because of it.
