In October 1953, she married John Juhas at Our Lady of Peace Chapel in Niagara Falls. Together, they built a loving home and raised their two daughters, Rosemary (Miller) and Joanne (Keith). She was also a longtime and devoted member of St. Thomas More Parish.
Upon arriving in Canada, she worked as a cook on a tobacco farm in Delhi, Ontario. Throughout her life, she also worked as a health care aide at the former hospital on Jepson Street in Niagara Falls and as head housekeeper at the Candlelight Motel. A hardworking and resourceful woman, she always found ways to provide for her family. When money was scarce, she used her remarkable sewing skills to transform old clothing into new outfits for her daughters, making the most of what they had.
She had a deep love for cooking and sharing her Hungarian heritage through food. Her traditional dishes, including cabbage rolls and chicken paprikash, were enjoyed by family and friends alike. Her baking was equally beloved, and friends and neighbours would often ask her to prepare her delicious tortes, strudels, and other homemade treats. For her, preparing a wonderful meal was one of the many ways she expressed her love for those around her.
An avid gardener, she could often be found outdoors in the early hours of the morning, tending lovingly to her plants. She also treasured the memories made with her husband, including their trip to Canada's West Coast. During the journey, she experienced both fear and awe at the sight of the magnificent Rocky Mountains, making it an unforgettable adventure they shared together.
Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She was a loving grandmother to Andrea, Adrian, Michael, and Mathew, and a proud great-grandmother to Maddy, Jesse, Morgan, Carmella, and Theodore (Teddy). Whether preparing a special meal, welcoming guests into her home, or simply spending quality time with loved ones, she found happiness in the company of those she held dear.
From 2014 until 2026, she resided at Bella Senior Care, where she became a beloved member of the community. The personal support workers who cared for her grew to love her as family, and she felt the same affection for them. Their kindness, compassion, and companionship brought warmth and comfort to her life, and she cherished the special bonds they shared.
She will be fondly remembered for her hardworking nature, resourcefulness, love of Hungarian cooking and gardening, and, most importantly, the care and devotion she showed to her family and friends.
