Margaret Jean Smart

With peaceful hearts, the friends and family of Jean Smart (née Margaret Jean Harmer) announce her passing on August 21, 2026. Predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Jimmy (December 14, 2013), she will be remembered by many family members, and in-laws, Jimmy Conté and family, Debbie Fillion and family, David Conté, and the Welland relations. In the United Kingdom Lyn and family, Mags and family. In addition to special friends Pam and her family, Donna and her family, Sara, Hollie and John, and many other friends whose lives she has touched over the decades. Jean was born in London, England, but spent most of her early years, during the Second World War, with her aunt and grandmother in Wales. She emigrated to Canada in 1957 and married Jimmy. Jean loved all creatures but she had a special bond with her Cairn Terrier dogs (and later, her feral cats!) Her happiest times were spent in her garden and sharing her vast knowledge of nature. Jean had an interest in many creative hobbies and conservation efforts fuelled by her wonderful determination. She will be missed.

Cremation has occurred and as per her wishes no visitation.
