Marianna was born on December 5, 1939 in Rostołty, Poland.
Marianna immigrated to Canada in 1966 marrying the late Stanley Albert Blonski of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Marianna and Stanley moved to Niagara Falls and raised three sons, Richard, Robert (Dorota Kukiela), and Gregory (Lynne Chiasson). When her sons had grown, Marianna worked at the Salvation Army Eventide Home as a bookkeeper until retiring in 1998.
On retiring, Marianna devoted her time to caring for her family and keeping in touch with friends. She loved to knit and go for her daily walks in the neighbourhood. Her evenings were often filled with telephone chats and faithfully watching televised games of her beloved Toronto sport teams.
Family, faith and heritage were important to Marianna.
Marianna was a loving and generous grandmother of Marcus, Mya, and Emilia. She was predeceased by her parents Jan Korzeniecki and Michalina Wojszko, and her brothers Bolek, Joseph, Czesław and Tadeusz. Marianna had many family and friends in Canada, Poland, Germany, and the United States whom she regularly spoke to and who often visited her.
Marianna was a devout Roman Catholic. In Canada, she first joined Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in St. Catharines and later Our Lady of the Scapular Church in Niagara Falls. When she was no longer able to attend mass, she faithfully watched televised services and followed her Sunday Missal at home.
The family would like to thank our mother’s dear friend Ania for assisting with mom’s care the past 20 plus years. The family would also like to thank the Personal Support Workers of Paramed who helped Marianna in her final years and the staff of the Niagara Falls Hospital, Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre and Marotta Family Hospital who cared for Marianna on the final months of her journey.
