

McANDREW, Marlene (nee Beam) - After a brief illness, Marlene McAndrew, 89, died Friday, January 7, 2022 at Greater Niagara General Hospital. She was born March 24, 1932 in Chippawa at the Main St. home of her parents, the late Herbert and Clara Beam (nee Murdoch.) She attended King George V public school in Chippawa and Stamford Collegiate in Niagara Falls and worked for several years at the Oneida silverware company on the north side of Clifton Hill. She was renowned for her skills in the kitchen, especially canning fruits and making jams and jellies. The house was never shy of cakes, cookies, pies or butter tarts without raisins. She loathed raisins. Predeceased by her husband, Raymond McAndrew (July 3, 2010) and her brothers, Herbert, Howard and Hugh. Survived by her children, Brian McAndrew (Nancy) and Jo-Anne Heaney (Jimmy), grandchildren Kelly McAndrew Bhyat (Adnaan), Andrew Heaney (Deysi) and Grainne Heaney and great-grandson Danyal Bhyat. She resided the past five years at Cavendish Manor Retirement Home in Niagara Falls. The family is grateful for the loving care and attention she received from the entire staff at Cavendish. Respecting the restrictions of COVID-19, including the requirement for proof of double-vaccination, government-issued identification, face masks, social distancing and pre-booked appointments, friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. visiting Tuesday January 11, 2022 from 12 to 1:30 pm.
